Cytomel (T3) Cytomel (T3) also known as Liothyronine Sodium, is a synthetic form of the important thyroid hormone known as Triiodothyronine (or T3). The thyroid gland produces the hormone Thyroxine/T4 (the precursor to T3) which then is converted to T3 primarily in the liver. T3 is important in stimulating basal metabolic rate, along with having numerous other functions relating to the metabolism of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. When T3 levels become too low, this leads to Hypothyroidism (under-active thyroid), which brings a number of adverse side effects such as obesity. By supplementing with T3, one can simulate Hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid), which increases metabolism and fat loss. Cytomel is regularly stacked with Clenbuterol and other stimulants such as Caffeine, Ephedrine and Yohimbine to expedite fat loss. This hormone is very catabolic in nature so dosage should stay low enough to prevent catabolism of muscle tissue.
